The first section of text gone over in this blog (2 Peter 1:5-11), was done originally as a sort of sermon outline. While going through 1 Peter, my pastor offered for members of the congregation to submit our own sermon outlines, given that we knew what section of text was coming next week. After procrastinating through 1 Peter I finally got around to writing something down for our second week in 2 Peter. If the whole thing seems a bit random or jarring in how it gets off the ground, that’s why, I’m jumping in mid-series. If some of the wording reads a little oddly, it’s likely because I’m writing these primarily directed to my pastor first – or it’s because sometimes I’m just a little odd. I enjoyed the process of approaching scripture this way more that I’d ever thought I would and felt like God was really lining the pieces up for me and giving me insight into the text. As the weeks have gone by, my relationship with His word has deepened and I started wondering if I should be sharing what I’m writing down with others. The more I’ve thought and prayed on this the more I felt led to share. I’ll start by posting everything I’ve written out so far (skipping 2 Peter 1:12-15 as I recorded a video for that week’s outline), with the intent of continuing to post weekly as I write more. I may add more as time goes on, depending on how I feel led, but for now, that’s what’s going on here.
